A New Filter Pump for the Newport Aquarium Penguins

ProFlow Pumping Solutions was introducing new specialty mechanical seals to the Life Support Team at the Newport Aquarium. The LSS Supervisor requested a repair proposal for their filter pump. When the price to repair their pump was significantly more than purchasing a new pump, the Aquarium selected a new corrosion-resistant pump with help from ProFlow Pumping Solutions.

ProFlow provided a new drop-in replacement PeakFlow-Argal™ ZGS pump. ProFlow’s technician checked vibration and performed laser alignment during pump installation.

A month after the pump was installed, the LSS Supervisor informed ProFlow that “We have almost doubled the overall flow rate of the exhibit and it’s working great. The better filtration rates have helped with our backwashing cycles as well.”

Corrosion-Resistant Pumps

ProFlow Pumping Solutions offers a line of non-metallic centrifugal single-stage pumps that meet ANSI / ASME B73.1 standards and can handle seawater effectively. These corrosion-resistant pumps are manufactured with fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) pump casings, which do not require protective coatings. These pumps, in certain configurations, can offer a ‘back pull-out’ design, which makes it much easier to maintain. Back pull-out designs allow technicians to disassemble internal and mechanical parts of the pump without removing the motor and disconnecting the casing from the fittings.
