SEAL-LESS PUMPS provide advantages over mechanically sealed pumps.
How Mag Drive Pumps Work
A magnetic drive pump uses a magnetic field to create the rotation of the impeller (or any other device utilized to displace fluid). The external magnet is mounted on the motor shaft. The liquid end consists of pump impeller (or any other device used to displace fluids) and an internal magnet mounted onto the driven shaft which is supported by bushing assembly and hermetically sealed by containment shell. Without the need of a mechanical seal. The external magnet begins to rotate when the motor is started. The rotating magnetic field effects the inner magnet which begins to rotate the impeller as the same speed of the external magnet to displace the fluid.
Seal-less Pumps for Petrochemical
TO ENHANCE SAFETY WHILE PuMPING SULFURIC ACID
When a petrochemical plant in Argentina took steps to prevent spillage and ensure operator safety, they selected mag drive pumps to pump a 98% sulfuric acid solution. In 2009, the plant installed an MPUMP CN MAG M 32 160 with standard SS316 construction. Using this seal-less pump in place of a pump with a mechanical seal helped them avoid “seal sweat” and loss of critical sulfuric salts required for their specific process.
API 685 Mag Drive Pumps
FOR 30,000 barrel-per-day oil refinery
Three sets of CN MAG-M 6x3x16 pumps were provided to the Cabinda Oil Refinery in 2021. Designed to API 685 standards, these OH2 pumps were sent to Angola to operate as crude feed pumps. These seal-less pump were made according to material class S-6, to operate in an ATEX classified hazardous area, and configurated with silicon carbide bushings, neodimium iron boron rare earths, and titanium containment shells.
Mag Drive
Pumps
FOR FOOD PROCESSING
PLANTS
A Virginia-based food processing plant making beef jerky had been experiencing seal issues on their CIP hot water feed pump. The mechanical seal problems caused frequent unexpected shutdowns. To address the issue, mag drive pumps were introduced, along with MPump’s patented Hybrid Technology rear casing (which presents power savings). In 2015, the plant purchased (2) CN MAG M ANSI 3x2x10 with a 75 Hp motor at 3500 rpm.
